I love museums, and love going to Balboa Park in San Diego whenever I can as the museums there are superb. I recently went to the Museum of Photographic Arts and the San Diego History Center, the latter being my first visit. How I have not been there yet I don't know, but it was great to see early photos, maps, and items from the history of San Diego. MoPA currently has one of the sweetest exhibitions I've seen, a collection of different rock stars from the 50's through 90's. Great behind the scenes photos of Bob Dylan, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Clash, and many more allow the viewer to get a glimpse into the lives of some of these people. Annie Liebowitz is probably the most famous artist whose work is present, but the rest of the photographers have made names for themselves as well.
My favorite museum at Balboa though is the Mingei. Culture in various forms is displayed for our pleasure. It is here where I discovered my favorite furniture maker George Nakashima. One day I will own one of his exquisite tables. What is your favorite museum and what exhibits draw your attention?
I love to travel, mostly due to the fact I have a slight obsession with maps and the need to visit as many places on them as possible. This will be a small selection of some of the places I have visited or want to, ranging from the spectacular to banal. I especially love the random, off the beaten path locations. For some reason, many of these places are in the Midwest or tiny towns desperate to be listed on a map. If you find a place to go or enjoy the pictures, then I have done my job.

Retirement? Thoughts to Consider
From Yahoo. I'm a million years away from retiring but this article caught my attention more so as a way to live frugally overseas. If these places are cheap for retirees, than they are cheap for everyone else. The trick for the rest of us is finding a job that allows us to live in such distant locations. Where do you think you could find such cheap places overseas? Let me know so I can go, plus share with everyone else.
